SHOP

The Ichimay Wari Association has its own shop to exhibit special pieces and commercial products (both decorative and utilitarian), which can be bought directly from the producer. The shop brings together products from each of the 19 workshops, and its stock is renewed in part every month.

The national and foreign visitor can also enjoy their trip to Lurin by visiting the 19 home-workshops and meeting each artisan in person.

HOMESTAY TOURISM

After visiting the workshops, we also offer a potential service to tourists who wish to experience the artisans’ lives in their workshops and their daily activities. Currently the associates are presenting a project of offering lodging in their own houses to visitors. We can also organize events to experience the traditional customs of dance and typical foods from Ayacucho and Lurin.

CULINARY EXPERIENCE

The Women’s Committee of the association prepares traditional foods for interested tourists. They are able to prepare meals for groups of 10 to 50 people. Our specialties are: Pachmanca(a food that is cooked in an earthen pit with hot stones—“Pachamanca” literally means “pot in the earth”—and includes chicken, beef or pork, yams, sweet potatoes, sweet tamales, and fava bean pods), Puca Picante(a typical dish from the artisan’s homeland, Ayacucho, which includes potatoes, beets, and peanuts), and Chicharrón(a pork dish that is a specialty of Lurin).
