Teófilo Aylas Enríquez was born in the district of Quinua, Ayacucho in 1967. He comes from a family of artesans and learned the art of ceramics starting at the age of ten, from his father and uncles. He arrived en Lurin en 1990 and came to Lima to study and at the same time to help in the workshop of his brother in Chorrillos. This led him to begin working for himself, settling in Lurin and participating regularly in the Inti Raymi National Museum competition. He has also participated in other competitions and several expositions with special pieces.
Teófilo works with clay, natural paints and pigments. His pieces are based in useful ceramics. His products include nativity scenes, masks, jewelry holders, and lamps, following the tradition of his father. He also makes special antiquity pieces in whatever shape and size is desired. His works reflect the customs, traditions and culture of his people. |
