Taller Allpa Ruruq
Jr. Italia Mz. 5, Lt. 17
Pedro Ore Chávez was born November 13, 1964, in the district of Quinua, which is located in the department of Ayacucho. Throughout his childhood, he would watch his grandparents carry out day-to-day work, and in those times they used artisan crafts to do so. These were pieces polished with rocks from the river to obtain their natural luster. Pedro learned this art through his maternal grandfather, who dedicated himself wholly to create practical artisan crafts.
At the age of 8, Pedro began to help his grandfather in his work. He was the fourth of 9 siblings that ventured into the artisan craft. Until the age of 17 he lived in Quinua, working with ceramics alongside his siblings. He then realized he had to leave his land since the terrorism had made life unsustainable there.
He came to Lima in 1982 and began to work in ceramics in production with his siblings for five years, and later started his own independent work in the district of Lurin. |
